1. Looking Back
  2. Glancing Ahead

Imagine waiting your whole life to hear God’s Word speak to you in your own language. Millions of people have been waiting for decades, and many continue to wait.

Fabian was an African who was forced to flee his village and live in a refugee camp. The words of the Bible were foreign to him and had no influence in his life. But when he read the Gospel of Matthew in his own language, he began to understand for the first time what Christ had done for him. Then his life was changed completely.

Bible Translation Changed Fabian's Life Bible translation changed Fabian's life

When people finally get Scripture in their own language, lives are forever changed. We are excited to be a part of this mission to help get Bibles to the bibleless.

It was a bit scary to make the leap of faith as a full-time supported missionary letting go of a solid paying job, but we know God has called us to this work. And we strongly believe the ways He has gifted us are uniquely suited to fill a great need in Bible translation.

We plan to send our quarterly newsletter in October. But a lot has happened, so we are sending this “Special Edition” to fill you in on some of these things.

Looking Back

The summer was not without its struggles and setbacks. In general, people are busy, and it’s often difficult to connect. In addition, the pandemic forced us to repeatedly change and cancel plans. But God is faithful. We’re now at 50% of our required monthly budget with 21 family units and 4 churches committing to financial partnership.

Every month, our needs have been met. Several ministry partners are giving regularly, and we are grateful for many of you who have given generous one-time gifts that have helped cover the gap in our budget.

Ways We Connected With People

  • Church presentations (including one over Zoom)
  • Interactive missions time with a children’s ministry
  • Breakfasts/lunches/desserts with small groups
  • Meetings with pastors and missions committees
  • One-on-one dinner conversations
  • Far too many Zoom calls... ;-)

Overall, we contacted 50+ churches, had conversations with 100+ individuals, families, and pastors, and traveled nearly 4000 miles this summer. We thank God for safety and are encouraged that our calendar for September and October is already full.

Glancing Ahead

During our travels, we realized people were asking a lot of the same questions. To help answer some of these questions, we plan to send three weekly “Special Edition” emails over the next few weeks (leading up to our fall newsletter). We will also be sharing our call to Bible translation and some creative ways you might be able to partner with us.

As you pray with us for bibleless people, we ask along with the Apostle Paul that “the Lord’s message will spread rapidly and be honored wherever it goes, just as when it came to you.”
